The Power of Putting Pen to Paper with Your Deepest Thoughts and Feelings
I have always loved journaling. Most of the time you will find me trying to express my thoughts and feelings in writing. And more so during this pandemic, I have been keeping records of events, a way to remember these crazy moments, and process my feelings. There are so many things I have learned this period that I could not hesitate but put in writing.
Did you know that journaling can help ease your distress when going through a difficult time? Yes, very possible. In a study conducted in 2006, 100 adults were asked to spend 15 minutes journaling about a stressful event or difficult moments or planning their day; the people who journaled experienced a reduction in symptoms of anxiety and depression.
An indication that putting down our thoughts can positively affect our emotions in big time. During this 30-day challenge, I am challenging you to start an effective journaling journey at least for ten minutes a day that will help you meet your goals and improve your quality of life; A way to self-express, lift and empower yourself to understand your complex feelings and find humor with it.
Personally, journaling has been my favorite activity since way back. It is a habit that is now part of my daily routine; I find it a very important tool that has helped me propel towards my goals and bringing my vision to life especially during these hard times of COVID-19.
It has given me a chance to get all my emotions down on paper, releasing stress, anxiety, and tension that comes with everything that is going on around me. What goals do you have from September to the remaining months of the year? How are you planning to achieve them? Put all that in writing. Journaling will keep you self-centered, help you identify your strengths and weaknesses, and give you an opportunity for self-reflection and self-analysis;
You will find it easier figuring your next steps. Keeping records of your thoughts, actions, and feelings will help you plan your goals and how you will achieve them. I’d advise you from today to adopt journaling as part of your routine. For those ten minutes a day that you will be writing, try to analyze your performance. Yes, how you are performing in those goals that you had set. Write about how you did, how you felt, and what you think you could have done better or where you avoided obstacles that blocked your way before.
